Very simple question. When I go to play Blu-ray Discs my ps4 asks "do you want to allow Blu-ray Disc videos to connect to the Internet while they are playing?" I always choose No. I have no idea what I'm stopping/allowing. yes or no?

BD-Live: Additional content
Back when the Blu-ray format was launched, the ability of players to connect to the internet was touted as a huge advance that would revolutionize the way we watch movies.

The article goes on to say "BD-Live is effectively dead right now."... Hope this helps.

PS3 asks the same. I allow blu-rays to connect to the net. Probably nothing to worry about.

Shortly after PS3 launched in 2006 owners were encouraged to allow their PS3s when idle to run complex scientific moleculor research for Standford Univesity's Folding@home project. A huge distributed computing project. Seems to have ended now. I found some talk of folding@home for PS4 but nothing specific.
