Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective (DS)

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

Release Date: 14/01/2011

Ghost Trick Phantom Detective is a game with an immensely interesting premise developed and published by Capcom for the Nintendo DS platform. Although the detailed texts and monologues could put you off initially, the basic storyline is interesting enough for you to garner motivation for scaling the learning curve and grasping the mechanics of the game. It may seem a tad difficult at the outset, but once you get the hang of it, the transition from one chapter to the other will become effortless.

The story juxtaposes you into the role of Sissel, who has just been killed and has acquired the powers of the dead. However, he is not aware of the reason of his death, and now needs to use all his powers to find who actually killed him and why, before daybreak. This quest requires him to unravel several clues and save numerous lives through the night. This is the basic premise of the game. Although you won't find any voice acting here, the graphics and the background score are most impressive and succeed in creating an ambience of its own.

Phantom Detective encourages you to think as you try to unravel various mysteries during the course of progression in the game. The game is divided into two distinct worlds, the real world and the world of the dead. As Sissel, you can move from one object to the other in the ghost world and can perform some manipulations for reaching out to objects. However, the manipulations are only possible in the real world. Besides, there is no way you can pause the game. Time ticks away and you are required to think fast.

Phantom Detective is one such game which will keep you completely occupied in case you are in for a long tedious travel. Just remember to keep your thinking cap on.
