Q: EA Access for Xbox One - New Subscription Service Unveiled

Asked by Nessi, 15-08-2014, 11:58:03
EA has unveiled a new reward scheme in partnership with Xbox One. This is how it will work. EA One club members can download and play every game in the EA "Vault" for $4.99 a month or $30 a year, beginning with FIFA 14, Madden NFL 25, Peggle 2 and Battlefield 4.

The digital game service obviously won't include major new release titles released.

Sony evaluated the services and quote "EA Access Doesn't 'Represent Good Value To The PlayStation Gamer'"

Anyone game?

sorry, i beg to differ johnb3. don't you know once the refreshed titles go live on ea, the boxed title will flop in price too. so go ahead sign up boys. i'll sit here and laugh out loud when i see the boxed title going for peanuts.

not forgetting you'll never 'own the game', you're renting access.
you lot shouldn't be complaining about cheaper games
Cheaper gaming, that's precisely what I was thinking. But, then again I can't see why EA would want to go this route long term.

So EA Access gets sold at $4 per month / $30 dollar per year through 'some retailers'. Seems unfair already.

+ $ Ubisoft subscription
+ $ Activision subscription
+ $ xyz publisher subscription
+ $ Rivals Microsoft Games with Gold deals

- Opens the doorway for more online sales in the digital cloud. Takes money away from pre-owned and boxed game titles which are found on EA Access.

- In for a penny, in for a pound. Once they have a large user base. Less content will end up in the full disc games and more ends up as additional priced download content packs.

Which could be a one major reason why Sony wouldn't want EA access taking a bite out of the PS pie.
Interesting. I never read that.
